STUDIO POLICIES

These are my studio policies for all customers receiving services performed at The Forge. All customers will receive a link to this page to review and agree to. At the point where a booking is made, it is assumed that you have read, understood and agreed to all terms and conditions.
If you have any questions prior to your appointment it is necessary to make contact and address any concerns in a timely manner.

LEGALITIES:

  • Any person wanting to get a tattoo must be 18 and over.
  • Parental consent does not overwrite Victorian state law. The answer is NO.
  • Strictly no children under the age of 16 are allowed in the studio.
  • Alcohol and drugs are not permitted in the studio at any time.
  • Completing the consent form before we start is a legal requirement.

PRICING:

  • Guessing the cost of a tattoo is like guessing how much a bag of groceries is worth.
  • A quote is an estimate only and may not accurately reflect the final cost.
  • I charge AU$180 per hour, and the tattoo takes as long as the tattoo takes.
  • I don’t care if someone else can do it cheaper.

DESIGNS:

  • The design and stencil are complimentary, provided we complete the tattoo.
  • My design and stencil service are not a charity. Be timely and specific about what you want.
  • Provide as many quality resources as possible that show me your ideas.
  • I commence the design process 2 weeks prior to the appointment.
  • Deposits will not be refunded if I have started the design, completed or not.

DISCOUNTS:

  • Asking for a discount devalues the quality of my service and my work.
  • Discrediting my efforts and commitment is rude, and I will instantly dislike you.
  • Anyone who asks for, hints at, or implies ‘discount’ I will increase the price, not lower it.
  • Although it is far more likely that I’ll simply choose not to have you as a client.
  • My commitment to delivering quality is limited to considerate and respectful people.

DEPOSITS:

  • Deposits are deducted from the price of the tattoo upon completion of the entire tattoo.
  • With 3 days or less notice to reschedule, you will incur a 50% loss of your deposit.
  • With 24hrs or less notice provided, you will incur a 100% loss of your deposit.
  • You will then be required to pay 50% of the tattoo estimate upfront as your next deposit, before re-booking.

CANCELLATIONS:

  • I understand life happens; all I ask is to be informed in a timely manner.
  • Changing your mind about the design last minute is considered a cancellation.
  • You’ll be required to pay another deposit for me to start your new design.
  • Anyone who does not show up for their appointment without notice will not be welcome back.
  • Be organised and notify work about your absence. Getting called into work is no excuse to take a day’s worth of income out from under my family!

COMPLETION:

  • Tattoos are finished when I say they’re finished, not when you are content or satisfied.
  • You’re representing my name with my work, and it must be done to MY satisfaction.
  • We’re not moving on to another tattoo until I am happy with the previous tattoo.
  • I wouldn’t even bother starting a tattoo at all if I don’t get to be proud of the result.

TOUCH UPS:

  • It can be difficult to get a tattoo right first time, I’m working on skin, not paper.
  • A touch up, revisit or second coat may be required, it’s not merely for its own sake.
  • Below the wrist / ankles skin exfoliates at faster rate and I can’t guarantee the result.
  • I charge a material fee for touch ups on hands / fingers / toes / feet, they are NOT free.

APPOINTMENTS:

  • I start charging from the time we agreed your appointment to start, not when you rock up.
  • Freehand and stencil alterations are labour, I charge from the time our appointment starts.
  • Wear appropriate clothing, I will not be responsible for your clothing getting ink on them.
  • Be sure that the clothing you do wear enables easy access to the areas being tattooed.

PROCESS:

  • Tattoos hurt, but I try to make the experience as comfortable as possible.
  • The result of your tattoo depends on you as well, it’s a team effort of endurance.
  • I can feel every move you make, even when you’re typing on your phone.
  • Moving around to check on the tattoo progress slows my workflow down significantly.
  • The more still you can be throughout the process, the more efficient I can work.

SUGGESTIONS:

  • Bring some snacks and a drink to stay hydrated and keep your blood sugar high.
  • A refrigerator is available for you store food if necessary.
  • Feel free to create a playlist of your own and we can have it on while we do the tattoo.
  • You may also bring headphones to enjoy your own music or movie on your device.
  • Wi-Fi is available, so just ask and hook up your streaming applications if you wish.

  • Don’t have fake tan on the area you’re getting tattooed.
